Based in Cologne, Germany, Scarce One has been seeking to preserve authentic music and dance culture for nearly two decades now. As a member of the foundation-oriented German Hip-Hop crew “Intruders from Planet Rock” (IfPR) he first started out as a B-Boy in the mid-1990’s. While maintaining his skills on the floor, he has also been catering turntable duties as a DJ and record collector since the start of the new Millennium.
Together with his crew both, his work and approach have been critically acclaimed by Hip-Hop pioneers and veterans in Europe and the USA, as well as various cultural foundations, universities and art institutions. Furthermore he has rocked several dance events, parties and clubs across the continent throughout the years. Along with Freitax, one of his fellow IfPR MCs, Scarce One is the two-time winner of the “Move the Crowd” award, handed out by the world famous Rock Steady Crew. He is responsible for the official annual “Hot Peas & Butta” (HP&B) Germany tour which celebrates its fifth anniversary in 2015.
Teaming up with his partner in crime, SoundControl’s own Selecta M, Scarce One has been running “Riddim & Groove”, a vinyl-only party and related blog that features analog sounds from the realms of Funk and Reggae culture. Scarce One is also curating “Black Dynamite!”, a monthly club night that unites DJs and diggers at Cologne’s legendary Roxy.
