The Boom Bap brought DJ Day to The Five Spot in Nashville on May 25, 2013. Another night of classic hip-hop from Case Bloom’s long-running party series.

With an illustrious career spanning two decades, he was recently named “Palm Spring’s Finest” and for good reason: His contributions to the various avant garde music scenes in southern California run deep. From the historic Root Down parties of Los Angeles to the infamous Do Over, Day has garnered respect from peers and fans alike for his eclectic, well executed DJ sets and diverse taste in music. His debut album, The Day Before (MPM, 2008) rose to the top of numerous notable playlists including those of Giles Peterson, Jeremy Sole and Philly’s Cosmo Baker. Not content being defined by one craft, he gracefully transitions between being a DJ/turntablist, musician and beat maker; a talent best exemplifiedby his ambitious forthcoming release Land Of 1000 Chances. He has toured the world many times over as a solo artist and with fellow musicians Aloe Blacc, Exile and People Under the Stairs. Amongst numerous accolades, he was nominated for Song of the Year awards both by the BBC and The Village Voice and his music has been licensed for commercials by DC Shoes, Red Bull Music Academy, Rane/Serato, and numerous full length feature films. Day recently returned from from touring Russia, Europe and New Zealand to finish the recording and mixing of Land Of 1000 Chances. Currently, Day is working with Thes One on the management and expansion of the artist collective Piecelock 70 and holds a weekly night at the renowned Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. He is a master of hip-hop, a king of disco & funk, a don of electronic dance music, and his unique style and skill is able to bring it all together to rock crowds of thousands around the globe. A Philadelphia native, from a city with one of the richest DJ histories, Cosmo cut his chops alongside contemporaries such as ?uestlove and Rich Medina, and when he relocated to Brooklyn in the early ’00s he helped found the internationally known DJ / remix collective The Rub. During the past 10 years Cosmo has played the four corners of the globe and has released countless mix tapes, remixes, and records.

He is the official tour DJ for the legendary MC, Bahamadia and other international hip-hop artists, including Hezekiah, Shape of Broad Minds, and Mr. Lif.

    FRIDAY July 25th @ THE BASEMENT Atlanta, GA – Detroit Hip-Hop’s Ambassador to the World, Michael “House Shoes” Buchanan has been an integral part of the long burgeoning Motown resurgence. Just ask anyone coming out of Detroit to confirm this. House Shoes, a resident DJ at the hip-hop staple St. Andrews Hall, Detroit MI, from 1994-2004 has had personal influence over a full generation of well respected emcees, producers, and then-future DJs. Four-time winner of the “Best Hip Hop DJ” in Detroit, he has used his platform to expose some of the best and brightest talent his city has had to offer.
