THE BOOM BAP Miami: Featuring DJ SCRATCH

FRIDAY July 25th @ THE BASEMENT Atlanta, GA – Detroit Hip-Hop’s Ambassador to the World, Michael “House Shoes” Buchanan has been an integral part of the long burgeoning Motown resurgence. Just ask anyone coming out of Detroit to confirm this. House Shoes, a resident DJ at the hip-hop staple St. Andrews Hall, Detroit MI, from 1994-2004 has had personal influence over a full generation of well respected emcees, producers, and then-future DJs. Four-time winner of the “Best Hip Hop DJ” in Detroit, he has used his platform to expose some of the best and brightest talent his city has had to offer.

SATURDAY MAY 26th AT THE FIVE SPOT — The man who is currently a walking break and sample Rolodex began his passion for hip hop on the dance floor as a b-boy (literally a boy), and by the age of 15 a young FROZ 1 was practicing his cuts, and running doubles in between trips to the record store. Personify seamlessly blends together music from many different genres, dropping everything from new and classic hip-hop, funk, soul, disco, boogie and breaks to house, baltimore club, nu-disco, and moombahton.

SATURDAY MARCH 24th AT THE FIVE SPOT — In 1991 Rob Swift joined the groundbreaking turntablist crew the X-ecutioners (Roc Raida, Total Eclipse, and Mista Sinista). Within a year of joining the X, he won the coveted DMC East Coast title, becoming world renowned as a master beat juggler (manually rearranging actual drum beats from vinyl in real time). In 2001, Rob Swift was featured in the DJ documentary SCRATCH. He has appeared on ESPN, The Late Show with David Letterman, and even Sesame Street.
