***This month we proudly welcome DJ Charlie White (FreeSol/Memphis)***

Growing up in Charlottesville, Virginia, Charles “Charlie White” Glover, was exposed to a wide variety of artistic expression. At an early age, Charlie White spent his afternoons, weekends, and nights in middle school and high school practicing the art of turntables. After spending a few years cultivating his skills with nothing but a pair of headphones on, Charlie White was ready for the world to hear. Inspired by DJs such as Q-Bert and A-Trak, he won a local battle of the bands and rocked college house parties while at the age of 15.

Six months after graduating high school and interning in a recording studio, Charlie White moved to Memphis, TN to study and pursue a career in music production. In a matter of months, Charlie White was selling tracks and building placements on mix-tapes throughout Memphis.

After establishing himself in Memphis, Charlie White became the live DJ for Memphis rapper Al Kapone. This catapulted him into the college scene as the DJ for dozens of fraternity parties, step shows, and events throughout the city. In the past few years, Charlie White has performed at many of the top festivals and industry events across the country. Some of these shows include the 2008 and 2010 Beale Street Music Festival, MTV Spring Break 2009, South By Southwest (2009/2010/2011), Lollapalooza, Justin Timberlake and Friends Concert in Las Vegas, as well as the Bacardi Biz Tour opening for Q-Tip and Big Sean’s “What U Doin” Tour. His live DJ sets launched him into a sponsorship deal with Red Bull in 2009 as well as becoming the newest member of FreeSol, a Memphis band signed to Justin Timberlake’s Tennman Records/Interscope. Charlie White has gone on to open up with everyone from Christina Aguilera to Elton John.

Charlie White’s debut mixtape Proving You Wrong Since 1988 with Memphis own Skewby and DJ Crumbz, was released September 30th, 2009 to praise from Hip Hop fans and critics. This led to a fury of projects and press, including The Source Magazine’s coveted Unsigned Hype. Skewby’s second project “More or Less” was recently released on DJBooth.net, which featured production from Charlie White. He is currently touring with FreeSol and Skewby across the country.
