DJ lil’dave is a Philadelphia-based audio tastemaker who has made a name for himself by exposing people to soulful music in all it’s forms. You can find him spreading his gospel through open minded DJ sets, original tracks & remixes, weekly radio broadcasts, and colorful design work. As a DJ, he can easily whip the most mainstream crowd into a frenzy, but he is at his best when he digs deep into his crates for funky grooves, broken boogie, and thumping bass. When it comes to making music, lil’dave’s productions draw from his hiphop roots, as well as his love of house, afrobeat, uk garage, salsa, jazz, synthesizers, and soul.
DJ lil’dave is a member of the highly respected DJ/production crew Illvibe Collective, who has released two amazing album and throw the legendary Bodyrock party for over 12 years. As a resident DJ for the Philly chapter of The Boom Bap parties he has played alongside hiphop greats such as Tony Touch, DJ Evil Dee, & Diamond D and represented The Boom Bap brand in other cities. He has been broadcasting for 17 years on radio station WKDU 91.7FM, where he currently hosts the internationally known Eavesdrop Radio along with DJ Junior. In 2004, DJ lil’dave was selected to be a student at the Red Bull Music Academy in Rome and he has continued to collaborate with the academy throughout the years. In addition to playing and creating music, lil’dave is also a contributing writer for Okayplayer.com’s electronic music site Okayfuture.
As a recording artist, he has released music as lil’dave, Illvibe Collective, and under his electronic alias, Osage, for record labels such as Record Breakin’ Music, Soulspazm, BBE Records, Tru Thoughts, Young Robots, Bastard Jazz, Luvbug, Exadoria and Swedish Brandy. In his relationship with the Record Breakin’ Music label he wears many hats, such as recording artist, remixer, artist development advisor, and graphic designer. He has worked with and remixed a diverse range of artists such as Selah Sue, J Cole, RJD2’s Icebird project, Lady Alma Ryat, Apt One, Joy Jones, Captain Planet, John Robinson, Foremost Poets, Laura Mvula, and more.
